Complete beginner here — where should I start?

Total noob here 🙋 Just got into online gaming because my friends play Dream11 during IPL. But I don't know much about cricket stats, so fantasy might not be for me.

What should I play as a complete beginner? I want:

  • Something easy to learn
  • Low risk (don't want to lose a lot while learning)
  • Fun enough to keep playing

Budget: maybe ₹500-1000 to start. Which platform and which game?

Welcome! For a complete beginner, I'd recommend starting with Points Rummy. Here's why:

  • Games are short (5-10 minutes) — quick learning cycles
  • Rules are straightforward — make sets and sequences
  • You can start with ₹0.5/point tables — losing a game costs ₹20-40 max
  • Skill-based — you actually get better over time (unlike pure luck games)

Platform: RummyCircle has the best practice tables for beginners, or MPL if you want to explore other games too.

Or if rummy sounds too complicated, try Ludo! You already know how to play, the stakes can be as low as ₹5-10, and it's genuinely fun. WinZO has the best Ludo experience IMO — multiple variants (classic, quick, turbo).

Don't count out Fantasy Cricket even if you're not a stats nerd! During IPL, just watch a few matches and you'll naturally learn which players are in form. Dream11 has free practice contests — zero risk, real contest structure. Play those for a week and you'll be ready for real ones.

My 2 cents on budgeting for a beginner:

  • Start with ₹500 on ONE platform (don't split across multiple)
  • Play the lowest stakes available for at least 2 weeks
  • If you lose all ₹500, take a break and analyze what went wrong
  • Never deposit more than you're comfortable losing completely

The biggest beginner mistake is jumping to higher stakes after one lucky win. Be patient.

Great advice from everyone. Adding: make sure you complete KYC on your chosen platform BEFORE depositing. Nothing more frustrating than winning money and then getting stuck at KYC for 48 hours trying to withdraw.
